Winter Sun

The winter brings new challenges for me. I love the textures and spikey foliage, especially bracken. When the sun is low but it's a clear day the combination of vibrant colour and texture offers a great starting point for further expression and possibilities.

Moonglow Frost

This is one of my favourite views to paint, across the field to the reservoir in winter when the frost lies in shadows and the colour is sumptuous. I love the simplicity of the shapes here and it's not often I would say to myself 'less is more'.

Winter Trees

I walk everyday with my dog. We pass these trees in all seasons, their twisted trunks and branches silhouetted against the sky. In winter the colours are earthy and strong . They are very much the colours of this landscape and those I am drawn to. I chose to work in pastels for this very reason.

Digley Woods in Winter

I walk here often late afternoon, in the snow it becomes the most magical place. Although I feel it belongs to me only, many people love this place and feel the same. This is Watercolour and Acrylic ink, with added Goauche. 43cm x 23cm, it has an Antique White mount 7.5 cm in width

Blue water

In winter the reservoir can be the most vibrant blue in colour. when snow has fallen the contrast between woods and water is just beautiful . This painting is painted with Watercolour, Ink and Gouache. It measures 41cms x 21.5cms with an Antique White mount 7.5cm in width.

Frost in the Early Morning

On one of those crisp frosty mornings, and I set out early for a walk with my dog. The light coating of snow had frozen over night in the woods and everything was encapsulated in last ice. In the early morning light this became magical place and from this came the painting .
